All Day
Presenter: Yangqing Jia
The NSF AI Institute for Edge Computing (Athena) is pleased to present a Distinguished Seminar by Yangqing Jia, titled “What does AI mean for cloud infrastructure?” on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 10:05 -11:20am EST via Zoom https://duke.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEkdO6pqDksHdH6CtrOP4WuSxnU23mNvITe and in-person at Duke University Wilkinson building Room 132.
Abstract: In this talk, I will briefly explore how cloud infrastructure has evolved over the years, and at the same time how AI has changed the way we think about building scalable infrastructure. I will mostly use real-world examples instead of slides to exhibit the two main deciding factors: supply chain and software deployment - that largely determines how enterprises think of their IT and AI strategy.
Bio: Yangqing is the co-founder and CEO of Lepton AI, a startup helping enterprises to run AI applications efficiently, at scale, and in minutes. Before this, Yangqing served as VP of Alibaba on Big Data and AI. He led AI infra at Facebook, and before that did research at Google Brain. He created and contributed to open-source libraries like Caffe, ONNX, and PyTorch. Yangqing graduated from UC Berkeley with a PhD in EECS.
Host: Yiran Chen
